Orientation disks and rims prior to assembly

orientation disk

A wheel consists of a rim (outside metal part) and a disc (inside metal part).  These both parts are put together by a robot feeding a press.  Prior to assembly the disk and rim must be oriented correctly.

Our integrated vision system has to control:

- the orientation of the rim: the detection of the angular position of the valve hole.  The precision is + 1 degree achieved by the use of two cameras.  The lighting is halogen.  The sizes of the rims are from 13'' to 18''.

- the orientation of the disks: the detection of the angular position of the fixation holes (precision: + 1 degree).

A third camera analyses the presence of guide holes and the presence of marking to check the reference position.

This application uses 5 cameras and 1 ILB-25N.
